Darel Carey

Darel Carey is a visual artist based in Los Angeles. He served in the US Air Force as an analyst for 11 years, then separated in 2012 to pursue a career in art, graduating from Otis College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2016.

His current work includes dimensional line paintings, digital art, murals, and immersive tape installations. Optical and spatial perception are his main focus; he uses lines to shape and bend the perceived dimensions of a surface or a space. Darel has always had an affinity towards spatial perspectives and illusion, and is fascinated by psychology and our visual understanding of the world around us. He is influenced by the work MC Escher, including his geometrical illusions, mathematical patterns, and tessellations.

He explores the emergent effects that come from consistency with slight variation, which is an organic process. From simple lines, complex shapes and spaces can be formed. In this way, Darel sees a strong connection between his art and the patterns of nature, from the beginning of our known universe, to the birth of stars and galaxies, to biological life on Earth, to consciousness and artificial intelligence. He feels that the best imagination comes from the best understanding of reality, and is inspired by the sciences, including the works and writings of cosmologists Lawrence Krauss and Sean Carroll. He appreciates the beauty of emergent properties and systems found in nature, and attempts to embody these attributes in his art.

Jordy Kerwick

Jordy Kerwick is a self-taught Australian artist now based in France. Jordy originally moved to France and entered the art world as a collector. During his time collecting art, he decided to begin painting himself. With several exhibitions and a blossoming career as a painter, Jordy has found his passion.

Jordy’s continued success has taken him around the globe to exhibit his work. In a 2 year span alone, Jordy held exhibitions in Sydney, New York, San Francisco, LA, Connecticut, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Cologne, Hamburg and Tokyo. This will be his first blockchain collection and we are thrilled it is taking place on Nifty Gateway!

Lans King

Lans King is an interdisciplinary artist. He has become known for his radical artwork for which he surgically implanted an NFC microchip into his hand. He is perhaps the first “cyborg artist”. Encased in a small glass capsule, the microchip contains a blockchain code as well as the algorithm that he uses to produce his digital and physical artworks. His work was recently featured in the BBC documentary “The Cultural Frontline”.

Based on that seminal artwork, Lans has created a series of “digital capsules” for this collaboration with Nifty Gateway. These digital works are “connected” to the microchip in his hand. They “encapsulates” the themes of his ongoing series “The Hyperreality Show”. Hyperreality blurs lines between the real and the virtual, the analog and digital, humanity and technology. These works are composed of layers of code (from the algorithm stored on his microchip), as well as animations that recall the style of his physical paintings.

In addition to his digital artwork, Lans King makes painting, videos, installations, sculpture, and his signature painting-video hybrids. His art has been acquired by a number of important collectors. Raised and educated in New York, he currently lives and works between Paris and London.
