Amid the rise in popularity of NFT projects, there is no shortage of articles sharing strategies for reducing minting gas costs. Strategies such as lazy minting, the use of L2 side chains, bulk minting, and other creative solutions to reduce gas fees for creating NFTs come to mind.

Nifty Gateway is pleased to announce that the latest version of Smart Contracts developed for the platform will feature fixed-cost minting of NFTs.

That’s right, if you launch your project on Nifty Gateway, you can now mint a 10K PFP project for the same amount of gas it takes to mint a 1 of 1 NFT.

No sorcery needed — just a well-designed Smart Contract written to take advantage of Nifty Gateway’s secure custody platform. Nifty Gateway NFTs are all on-chain, but they are initially minted to an Omnibus wallet. From there, users are free to withdraw them to their own Web3 wallets or leave them in the Omnibus for ultimate security and peace of mind.

This unique property of minting all tokens to a single address allows the contract to skip a storage operation that would typically cost 20,000 gas per token that is minted. Because the original owner is always the Omnibus address, ownership can be inferred until the first transfer or burn operation on each individual token.

Additionally, Nifty Gateway token ids in the latest contract always start at 1 and increase sequentially with no gaps. As a result, EIP-2309 ConsecutiveTransfer events are used during mint transactions instead of individual EIP-721 Transfer events. These two optimizations eliminate all per-token storage operations seen in typical ERC-721 NFT contracts.
