It’s a Funny Old Game (Dev Notes #1)

Welcome to our new weekly dev notes, where we update you on bug fixes and the latest developments in the Nifty Football game engine.

Greetings Niftians! Welcome to our new series of short articles — Funny Old Game (Dev notes #1). We will pick some bugs you reported and whose fixes are scheduled to be deployed in the next sprint or are already deployed.

Morale stuck at low value — As you all might have noticed (or at least us bad managers did), players that got their morale into the red have been stuck there no matter what you do. Bringing them off the bench or playing them in the right position doesn’t help and upgrading their stats also doesn’t help… Yelling certainly isn’t a solution, trust us we tried. Fret not! A solution has been found and the fix is ready to be deployed to beta.

The player’s overall level is different in the match and on the tactics/squad page — There have been a couple of reports that your players have a lower overall level than it actually is. At first, we thought they might have had stage fright but after rigorous testing (one Friday afternoon, while thinking of the weekend) we located the source of the problem and created a fix.

Players have wrong primary positions — We all wished that we had players who can play in any position, so we can switch the formation on the fly, but unfortunately not all our dreams can come true (until the marketplace arrives). Imagine the shock on a manager’s face when all of a sudden all his players were green! Certainly, something was wrong, he was sure that he didn’t have any player who can play LB in the primary position, nor the one who can play RW. Being the good manager he is, he reported this problem and we looked into it. We found out what was amiss. So don’t worry managers, you won’t have all green players for at least some time.

All this bug-hunting work has been done by our lovely community on Discord. Special shout out to some of our ‘Physios of the week’: Artplusbrad, Corsicatoken, Serrao10, Rouxbarbe, Qoelet and many others who really earned their title and XP! Remember, all XP earned in the Nifty Football Discord community is carried across into the game!
