Welcome to Earth Week on Nightingale! In honor of Earth Day on April 22, we are publishing Earth-related data visualization content all week. Dataviz can enhance our appreciation of the planet, illuminate our relationship to it, and call us to action to preserve it. After all, we only have one and it means the world to us. You can keep up with all of our Earth Week articles here.

Humans have lived on this planet for nearly 200,000 years, and we continue to learn new things about our planet every day. Visualization is one of the most important tools we have to communicate scientific data both among researchers and the general public, so we wanted to honor some of the most insightful and impactful environmental visualizations of the past few decades. Many focus on how our climate has changed over the past few centuries, with a final spotlight on the royalty of urban fauna.
