Until now, DeFi projects have been designed solely for an audience of crypto nerds like us. Today, the average DeFi product user experience is confusing and even painful. Even the most mundane tasks, such as navigating, searching for content and displaying basic search results, lack the standardisation required for general adoption. Worse still, information about most of the existing DeFi solutions is scattered across the internet, making it practically impossible for users to discover new products and the features they offer.
Further, as soon as the user moves beyond the most basic tasks, more complex features are difficult to navigate and manage. This is a recipe for a frustrating user experience and a significant barrier to wider adoption.
This is fine for the current DeFi user base — a select group of thousands — but we are designing NiiFi and building it on top of our uniquely, fast, secure and scalable layer-2 protocol, Nahmii, with millions of users in mind. We should and can do better. That’s why today, we are asking for your help to improve the status quo.
Building a Great Experience for NiiFi Users
We have spent the last month knee-deep in optimising the user onboarding process for NiiFi. With the objective of onboarding millions of users, our goal is to simplify the experience for the newest NiiFi users wherever we can. In doing so, we are following time-tested design principles around data input/output, navigation, discoverability, content structuring and content hierarchy.
Our first step was to fork Uniswap’s UI. We then apply our learnings and experience to find methods to simplify the user journey.
Today, we reveal our first attempt at new UI designs of the NiiFi interface. Please note that these designs are by no means complete. In fact, we are sharing these with you, as an early member of our community, in a relatively raw state to get your early impressions and suggestions. We are following the established principle of ‘shipping early and often’ because we know that, more than anything else, your feedback will be what makes NiiFi great.
Over the next 8 weeks we will deploy features, enhancements and fixes to the test app based on your feedback .
In the meantime an important note for you to keep in mind as you kick the tires on NiiFi’s new front end: This first version is not yet powered by Nahmii, it points at the Uniswap v2 smart contracts on the Ethereum Ropsten testnet. You can use Metamask to interact with our UI, but you must be connected to Ropsten.
As soon as we deploy NiiFi onto the testnet of our unique Ethereum scaling solution, Nahmii, you will be the first to know about it.
