Nike Digital Celebrates Women’s History Month
by Jordana Gustafson Wright
It’s Women’s History Month, and at Nike’s World Headquarters here in Beaverton, Oregon, we’ve been celebrating all month long — with special events, talks, award ceremonies and fitness meetups focused on supporting and shining a light on female colleagues and their work.
On March 8, our Women of Digital & Friends employee network partnered with Women Who Code Portland to host an International Women’s Day celebration. Seven women from Nike Digital — plus Nike CTO Skip Potter — stepped up to the mic to speak to a sold-out crowd of more than 200 from Portland’s tech community.
Senior software engineer and UX researcher, Jessica Mullins, discussed how brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) use real-time digital signal processing, machine learning and cognitive neuroscience techniques to interface between humans and machines, while Digital Platform Engineering VP, Courtney Kissler, spoke about the importance of creating a culture of continuous learning. The lightning talks included a robust Q&A with the speakers and were followed with informal conversation and networking between Nike employees and Women Who Code Portland members.
