The Unnoticed Path

It’s everything that goes by, unnoticed,
Yet you don’t know.
Engrossed in life’s rapid stride,
While family waits, silently, beside —
Still, you don’t know.

You’ve let go of everything dear,
Your passions and dreams, your laughter and cheer,
Unaware of their silent disappearance —
Yes, you don’t know.

Moving on was swift, seamless for you,
Feelings once vivid, now faded, subdued.
Emotions, a distant, forgotten hue,
You’ve been unaware, it’s true.

Do you recall those childhood friends?
Promises made, bonds that seemed to never end.
The joy in those shared, innocent grins,
Lost in life’s whirl, forgotten dreams,
Yet, you don’t know.

When last did your smile genuinely beam?
When did you wake with no plan, just serene?
When did you learn something not routine?
When did you last call that long-lost friend?
When did you see your parents, their age, comprehend?
When did you last take that dreamt-of vacation bend?

While pondering these, a realisation may dawn,
Of life’s missed moments, time forever gone.
A path walked blind, in oblivion’s song,
But now, perhaps, you know.
