Welcome to the Nimiq Community Update! This a community contributed write-up on what Team Nimiq have been posting in the official Nimiq discord channel alongside community led projects and content being created for Nimiq. The Community update will always remain open source & community driven.
What is Nimiq?
Nimiq is a browser-based Blockchain designed for simplicity. Nimiq’s reason for existence is to bring the benefits of blockchain technology to the mainstream. To achieve that purpose Nimiq has been built from the ground up to address and break the barriers to entry that inhibit the mainstream adoption of blockchain technologies. Nimiq is encompassed by a strong philanthropic mindset, it will always remain open-source and community-driven.

A warm welcome to all of the new faces that have joined the Nimiq community recently, Week 26 of Nimiq mainnet brings forward a number of exciting developments by Team Nimiq & the community, here’s whats new:
Official Team Nimiq updates
The time has come to announce the last and final chance to activate NIM from NET, as well as the date for the end-of-life of the NET ERC20 token. The last chance to activate NIM from your NET is by Friday 3:00pm GMT November 30 2018.
- Technology road ahead: Focusing on the key technological milestones for Nimiq up until 2020, the core team provides insight into the ‘Four Pillars’ (Wallet, Exchange, Payment, Blockchain) that they want to focus on to achieve “the first complete and easy-to-use crypto payment system.”
- Vision, Mission & Marketing: Outlining Nimiq’s new visualisation, message and marketing strategy; the team gives us a look at the approach they’ll take in achieving greater awareness for the project.
- A New Visual Identity: With the conclusion of Nimiq’s visit to the Web3 Summit this past week, Julian Bauer explains the process in refining Nimiq’s brand. A Nimiq brand stylesheet was also created for developers and creators to utilise.
- Most recent Nimiq Youtube Vlogs: ‘Supporting Community Seed Nodes , The Hackathon Life & Community Support Growing’.

- Nimiq-thing: “ the latest innovation in faucet technology…critically acclaimed (by me)” — Smitop 2018
- Conv.Nimiqx: A live Nimiq-Fiat converter tool created by Sushi Miao.
- Shortnim.ml: Created by community member Albermonte, it allows for the monetisation of URLs through mining Nimiq.
- Agora.Trade: Following further development, Agora.Trade looks to launch in early November and is a cross-chain decentralised exchange developed by Reto Trinkler and his team.
- Nimbet: A ‘Mutual Betting’ platform which allows you to bet on the future price of Bitcoin and win NIM from other players developed by community member Neil.
- NimTrade Discord Bot: A new discord bot developed by Sushi Trishapow is now available, it allows for spot price updates and visualisations for NIM markets.
- Nimix: A Nimiq mixer in development by the developers at Sushipool, Twini & community members.
