Of the many perks that come with working in the home design space in New York City, it’s hard to beat having must-attend industry events only a cab ride away. Both Dining by Design, hosted by the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, and the Architectural Digest Design Show serve as a huge source of inspiration for our work throughout the year, where leading brands partner with top talent to showcase the latest in furniture, kitchen and bath, lighting, accessories and more.
Here is our K+B Insiders look, highlighting our favorite finds.
Day 1: DIFFA Dining by Design

The dramatic design elements of this table, coupled with its rich textures and deep colors transport you out of the event and into a chic, tribal world. This presentation mixes high-end luxury and fantasy to create the ultimate Garden of Eden. Attention to detail is key, as every element was carefully selected to tell the story. The design our friend Antonino Buzzetta created to celebrate the 90th birthday of the New York Design Center was fresh and sweet. We love the juxtaposition of the tablescapes against the graffiti — perfect for hosting a party al fresco on a Manhattan rooftop.Rockwell Group and Knoll | By John Burgerman
We love when art and functionality mix — it’s not always an easy thing to achieve! Watching John Burgerman bring his artwork to life made this space very kinetic and original. This vignette shows what a bold impact you can make through strong lines and contrast. The writing on the wall gives a sense of containment and beautifully frames the table and chairs. What we especially love is the color combination, complimenting the whole message of the event; in the end, it’s all about hope!
Day 2: The Architectural Digest Design Show
Over the course of four days, New York’s Architectural Digest Design Show draws 40,000 design junkies like ourselves to check out the latest from the world’s leading brands. Of the 400 brands that exhibited, we narrowed it down to our four favorite discoveries:

Not only does this range have great lines, but it’s a great example of an individualized luxury — a current trend in kitchen and bath design. Blue Star offers 750+ colors plus textured finishes. We love the green range coupled with the green cabinetry and stainless steel. The proportions and soft, minimal lines of this design make the table and chair the perfect pair for a breakfast area in a modern kitchen.Fortress Tile | From Artistic Tile
We really liked the new additions to the Artistic Tile family; the contrast of the designs that range from modern to traditional, yet coincide together. Each provides a three-dimensional feel using different materials, ranging from marble to porcelain.Wild Thing Wallpaper | From Flavor Paper
This fun pattern has great scale and the colors are vibrant and crisp. If there’s any place in the home to make a bold statement with this wallpaper, it’s the powder room. A print like this can serve as the inspiration for the entire aesthetic of the space; we can’t wait to find the right home for this in one of our future projects.
