From the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama, to the Vietnam War Protests, to the Tiananmen Square Rally in China, the Youth has proven to be a strong suit in bringing a revolution to the existing decree and allowing various ordinances to commence and ratify.

Subjected to this, the youth of various nations have taken an initiative to form their own Youth Parliament to hear the voice of youth between 18 and less than 25 years of age, who are allowed to vote but cannot stand as a candidate for election, through deliberations in Youth Parliaments at district level and above as well as to encourage the youth to engage with public issues, understand the common man’s point of view, form their opinions and express it in an articulate manner.

Education plays a vital role in the functioning of the youth. The minds of the students and youth are upskilled and augmented with the knowledge of the national as well as the international issues. The igniting young minds are edified to make their own judgements and decisions on the concerned matter.

Platforms like these give an open arena for deliberations which result in extra ordinary conclusions, thus increasing the efficiency.

This year, Insight brings you its very first edition of the “AWAAZ: THE YOUTH PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE” as the last segment of GYES, a silver line in its closure.
Our education system, of late, has come under fire for being more, if not all, theoretical than practical. Students are thereby preferring foreign education for they feel that their skills and competencies are better exploited there. So, what happens to the Indian economy when majority of its resourceful youth
is drained to another country?
The answer for this is what we are aiming for with this motion.

Have a seat through a markedly engrossing debate between the EXPERT PANEL (educational dignitaries) and the YOUTH PANEL (students from acclaimed universities), on the education system prevalent in India today that is facing a backlash; considered to be more theoretical than practical, thus deduce whether the prevailing Indian education system is adequate enough to generate economic assets for the country.

Date- 9th February, 2019.
Venue- BJ Hall, Vile Parle.
