Women in Big Data (a.k.a WiBD) is a world-wide program that aims:

  1. To inspire, connect, grow, and champion success of women in the Big Data & analytics field
  2. To grow women representation in Big Data field

Last Saturday (May 30th, 2020) marks 1 year since we officially launched the Israeli chapter of Women in Big Data!

A few months prior to that, and with the help of Tina Rosario (SAP) and Marina Alekseeva (Intel), we formed the core team of the chapter, including Liat Amidan Man (Nielsen), Nufar Gaspar (Intel), Tiferet Kronfeld (Intel) and myself (you can read more about that here).

During this year, we organized various events, ranging from AI, Data Science, Big Data and Product Management, through open-sourcing the hiring process of data professions, all the way to deep-dive into advanced Apache Spark topics.

We had many awesome speakers and mentors from PayPal, Simplex, Yotpo, the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology), Google, Taboola, Amazon, Facebook, Datorama (a Salesforce Company), Aternity, Intel and Nielsen.

Our local meetup group has over 700 members, many of them attended at least one of those events (check out some of the video recordings on our YouTube channel).

For the Hebrew speakers, here’s a sneak peek into one of our events, from People and Computers magazine:

We’re actively working on our next events (which, considering Covid-19, will probably be online), and we’d love for you to join!
The program is open for everyone (regardless of gender), so find a chapter near you (https://www.womeninbigdata.org/wibd-structure/)!
