Gingers Are Black
Welcoming all our red velvet cousins to the cookout
The connection between people with red hair and Black individuals is undeniable. In my small collection of close friends, three of them are red-headed women.
So, when social media recently started saying that Gingers are Black, I did not question it. I don’t wish to do the research; I want it to be true. I accepted that all Gingers originate from a mutation in a Black woman’s genes long ago. I agree. Don’t ask for proof.
If you check, there are hundreds of videos of Gingers showcasing their rhythm and spice cabinets, two significant traits of Black Americans. Many seem happy to join the Black tribe.
I didn’t know that being a redhead was not a cool thing when they were children. I never understood how redheads were bullied in school because growing up, I went to majority Black schools where there were very few redheads.
They post sad tales of how Gingers were sexualized at a young age, with “Do the carpets match the drapes” comments. One woman was asked this question at ten.
They were also called fire crotch and carrot top. Others were bullied for their pale skin and freckles, with mean children yelling that the dirt wouldn’t wash off…
