I needed to write 33 stories in December to meet my stretch goal for Medium — I did not make it.

Missing my stretch-goal puts me in a weird place. I met the yearly goal that I set for Medium articles in mid-October. I then set a stretch goal that would be hard to reach to stay focused.

Now, I don’t know if I should celebrate because I exceeded the original goal or be unhappy that I missed the stretch goal. When I made a challenging follow-up goal, did I set myself up for failure? Should I have chosen an easier target for myself? I have published an additional fifty-seven new articles on Medium; the stretch-goal was seventy more — I am twelve short. Eleven, when I post this one.

I’ve decided to celebrate my success. Have a drink with me. Hooray, for me.
