When President Obama was inaugurated for the second time in 2013, my spouse and I flew to DC to see him in person. We worked so long and so hard for his campaign during the 2012 election that we felt like we were part of his administration.

Obama had a private swearing-in on Sunday, January 20, 2013. The public ceremony was on Monday, the 21st of January 2013.

We decided to see the public inauguration in person. We were lucky enough to talk to a person who attended the first inauguration who gave us tips. In 2009, for the first inauguration, the temperature was 28 degrees with 20 mile per hour winds — brutally cold. We were smart enough to take their advice.
