Celebrating a book coach’s success
We’d like to introduce , one of our Author Accelerator members. KC Karr recently became a certified book coach. We invited her to sit down for a little interview to talk about her experience. So without further ado, here is KC!
Q: Okay, KC, how did you come to book coaching? Were you a writer looking for a way to dive deeper into the craft? A coach hoping to expand or enhance your services? Were you entering book coaching totally fresh?
KC: I came into book coaching after working with my own coach, Julie Artz. During the process of working on my manuscript, I was impressed with Author Accelerator and their book coaching practices. It became a dream of mine to become a book coach as well.
Q: What was your experience in the Advanced Training and Certification course? What did you find most satisfying? What did you find most challenging?
KC: I enjoyed getting my coach’s feedback on my client comments. Much like writing, book coaching offers endless opportunities to grow and learn and become better. So having one on one feedback helped me see areas I work on.
I also loved all the examples provided throughout the course. When Jennie says the course is meaty, she isn’t kidding!
The most challenging aspect for me was finding my own self-confidence. Fortunately, there are lessons for that!
Q: What is the most valuable piece of advice you’re taking away from the training?
KC: Believe in yourself! Your knowledge is worthy and valid and you ARE capable of helping writers achieve their dreams.
Q: Tell us more about your coaching plans.
KC: I currently work for the best company ever — Author Accelerator! I’m also accepting private clients through my website.
Q: What are you going to do to celebrate your certification achievement?!
KC: I did a happy dance!! But seriously, I’m moving into a new house next week and things are crazy right now, but once things settle, I will definitely take myself out to a nice dinner with drinks, on me! :)
Q: What are the next steps in your career?
KC: I plan to keep working for Author Accelerator and taking private clients. I also have a day job that I’m looking to phase out of as my client base grows. I’m on a one-year plan to have only writing jobs. The countdown is on!
