Celebrating a writer’s success
We’d like to introduce Mitzi Zilka, one of our Author Accelerator members. Mitzi recently finished her manuscript. We invited her to sit down for a little interview to talk about her experience. So without further ado, here is Mitzi!
Q: Okay, Mitzi, can we have the basics about your project and your book coach?
Mitzi: My book, Water Fire Steam, is a historical fiction novel. I worked with book coach Sheila Athens.
Q: How long did you work with Author Accelerator on this manuscript? How long have you been working to get to “the end?”
I had written the screenplay to my story and had been researching it for about five years.
Q: How does it feel to have finished?
Mitzi: I feel proud of myself. It was a long hard project, but consciousness raising and supremely satisfying.
Q: What did you do to celebrate?
Mitzi: My fiancé and I went out for lunch, had a few glasses of wine and called two writer friends to report the news.
Q: What’s next for your book?
Mitzi: Revise it, have several beta reader’s have a look at it and query agents.
Q: What are the next steps in your writing career?
Mitzi: Find a fabulous, tenacious agent to sell the book to a top publisher.
Next step — revise my full length screenplay and start another novel.
Q: Do you have anything you would like to share about the coaching process or your coach specifically?
Mitzi: Sheila was always upbeat and professional. From the beginning I asked her not to go easy on me. I wanted to write the best book I could. She held me to that request and I have grown immensely as a result. Thank you, Sheila.
Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us, Mitzi. And again, congrats on your huge accomplishment!
