We’d like to introduce , one of our Author Accelerator members. Weyshawn recently finished her manuscript. We invited her to sit down for a little interview to talk about his experience. So without further ado, here is Weyshawn Koons!

Q: Okay, Weyshawn, can we have the basics about your project and your book coach?

Weyshawn: My book, Medic One: Making a Medic, One Woman’s Journey, is an action-adventure memoir. I worked with book coach, Deb Lieberman.

Q: How long did you work with Author Accelerator on this manuscript?

Weyshawn: I have been working on this project with Author Accelerator for 8 months after working on the draft for 8 years.

Q: How does it feel to have finished?

Weyshawn: Wonderful!

Q: What did you do to celebrate?

Weyshawn: I signed up for the revision class.

Q: What’s next for your book?

Weyshawn: Revision, revision, revision…

Q: What are the next steps in your writing career?

Weyshawn: Ultimately, I’d like to publish this traditionally, but am open to hybrid publishing if that doesn’t work.

Q: Why would you recommend coaching?

Weyshawn: My coach asked me questions that made me dig deeper and explore the ways in which I see the world. I never would have done this on my own. I had trouble putting myself on the page - it felt so vulnerable. Deb was was kind and compassionate and encouraging in every way!

Q: Do you have anything you would like to share about the coaching process or your coach specifically?

Weyshawn: I loved the Story Genius Course I took before I signed up for one-on-one coaching with Deb. Doing the two back to back was extremely helpful, as I knew where I was going and what I wanted my takeaway to be. Deb helped keep me on task.

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us, Weyshawn. And again, congrats on your huge accomplishment!
