Jace Junggyu Kim — “Self Pity”

This paean of pity is getting quite boring
with cliché of rowing-boats slipping their mooring
and candles extinguished with love as a shadow-
sabemos que la guerra cansa al soldado.

The pestilent pathos increasing the drama
increases the aspect of pain’s panorama,
assault on the psyche, disease of the soma,
the sarx bearing marks of a soul’s haematoma.

There’s nothing to gain in the drain of compassion
when loathing is loud and self-hatred in fashion,
the lesions are lessons in life’s understanding
to build up the character, knowledge expanding.

These scars aren’t the herald of failure’s arrival
but potent reminders of strength and survival.
