An Unusual Day at the Zoo

A little ditty,
not quite a pity,
of a lady in the city.

Pushing a
shopping cart,
loaded with
contemporary art,
stolen from
the local Walmart,

Chased by
a Copper,
he tried
to stop her,
but, fell
on a shopper.

She ran
into the city zoo,
stepped in
elephant poo,
there was nothing
she could do.

The monkeys noticed
and let out a cheer,
while the snakes hissed
and watched with a leer,
The penguins so stoic,
thought all this quite queer.

The Zookeeper
arrived on the scene,
a situation
she’s never foreseen,
what to do,
this was not routine.

The Copper
arrived to place her in cuffs,
from running so hard
his breath was in puffs,
The peacock
amused, his feathers he fluffs.

The animals
in an uproar,
Life in the zoo
could be a bore,
they wished to see,
so much more.

The lady begged for mercy
and to be set free,
the Copper said,
how can I do that after this spree?
But, my children are hungry
hear my plea.

We’ve had a bad day
I know this is true,
Let’s make some good, so,
no one is blue,
and give the animals
something to view.

A few phone calls
were made,
Then big wigs
were swayed,
for all animal homes,
a nice upgrade.

Artwork
was hung,
after
cleaning the dung,
and around the zoo
pictures were strung.

No evidence
was introduced,
the somber Judge
deduced,
verdict of,
not guilty produced.

The zoo animals
loved the free artwork,
and best of all,
was the funny perk,
The day
the humans went berserk.
