Bull On The Hillside
A Portrait

Bull on the hillside
heavier than a black smear
thumbprint on pastel blue
crayon canvas sky.
Bowed before a feast
lush mountain grocer grass
tail whopping delight for
endless emerald peaks.
Thick bristle hide
swarm clouds buzzing flies
winged motors rattle on
nostrils flaring wide.
Wind lifts a hair
blood red eyes rest on me
twin brown iris ponds
observe intruder stare.
Shading yellow horn
calcified broken bone
ill-blunted bullish pride
concrete cutters scorn.
Head heavy hung down
feign restraints are a burden
tears ripple on iris ponds
both his and mine now.
