Gone are the days when
Men controlled women
Now we rejoice
The gift of choice.

So lend me your eyes,
My buddies
To hear the decries
Of patriarchies.

We can choose between
Careers, chores, and childcare
Or chores and childcare.

We can choose between
Lower pay and sexism
Or no pay and sexism.

We can choose between
Intra-caste “arranged” marriage
Or intra-caste “love” marriage

We can choose between
Daddy’s surname
Or Hubby’s surname.

We can choose between
Culture and inequality
Or alienation and equality.

We can choose between
Getting killed for love
Or killing bud of love.

We can choose between
Being killed in the womb
Or being killed by the groom.

We can choose between
Damned if you do
Or damned if you don’t!
