Organ strikes a chord,
at last the moment’s here,
best I could afford
the Wedding of the Year.
A sweet enchanting bride -
and white becomes her well.
When I proposed, she cried,
but real tears — who can tell?
Wish I could just be sure
now as she takes my hand
that her affection’s pure
not based on wealth or land.

This man I love, so warm and kind and cute,
I’ve had enough of vain and handsome brutes.
See how he smiles and gently takes my hand,
he’ll never strike or bully or command.
My life till now has been a sordid mess,
relationships were not what I did best.

He thinks his money is the main attraction,
but no — I truly love him to distraction.

We’re gathered here today
look at this mismatched pair
to join this man and woman
I’m trying not to stare
in holy matrimony
this flower in full bloom
not to be taken lightly
and Pug-Face as her groom.
She’s marrying for money
I’m sorry to be blunt.

A just cause or impediment?
I’ll give it eighteen months.
