It’s National Garlick Day

So what’s a gar? And why would you want to lick it?

This handsome alligator gar is distinct from other gars by having a heavier and broader body, a short broad snout, and numerous large canine-like teeth usually in a double row on upper jaw. (Image Source)

I’ll bet that you didn’t know the gar is celebrated,
or this day’s been set aside especially for gar licking.
Candidly, I will admit I’m taken back as you are.
Think this is an instance of the internet bait clicking!

Probably my picture of that alligator gar
suggests licking this guy could be hazardous to you.
Perhaps you could sneak-up on him, lick him, then retreat,
but until you’re confident, please stay in your canoe.

Why not skip the licking ’cause the gar objects to foreplay.
Eating gar much better, tastes like gator, finger lickin’.
Some say it’s a myth, but there’s a chance he’ll want to eat you.
Not a myth, the gar’s been told that people taste like chicken!

Exploring social media for myths ’bout Garlick Day …
Licking gars supposedly will make all lickers healthy.
If you read the internet, you’re bound to be persuaded
licking more will make you more while on your way to wealthy!
