NO CRIME IN RHYMIN’

Listen to the Breeze

We never get an answer,
we’re always lost at sea.
The only thing we know for sure
is that what will be will be.

It’s the strangest situation
in my personal history;
the plague, the fires, the riots conspire
to bring us to our knees.

When I gazed into the future
it looked like yesterday.
I made up my mind to avert my eyes
and look the other way.

When you buckle up your seat belts
and flee from town to town,
be sure to cast aside your hope;
it will only let you down.

I’m no longer asking questions
to the One on the high trapeze.
The only thing I’m left with
is to listen to the breeze.
