Who’d ever think
it would make sense
to poke holes through
your body fence?

Skin keeps stuff out
like slime and dirt
and more vile stuff —
your insides hurt.

Already holes
for ingesting
and after food’s
through digesting.

There are two holes
for our hearing,
and while my wife
likes her earring,

I’m not sure she’d
be one to pierce
her nostrils for
a look more fierce.

Anyway, careful
what you’re wishing.
It’s safer to
just go fishing.

Or so I thought —
tripped on some rocks
and fell into
my tackle box!
