National Animals U Through Z

Part Four (Clearly out of Order)

The final six letters are now in my sight
And I know some of you may have wondered how I might
Deal with the countries that start X and Y —
Since there are none, why even give it a try?

Well, in truth I’ve been looking forward to this,
A bit of research — a dash of imagination — swish!
Although in this list of nations and borders,
If this were a court I’d be ruled out of order.

Let’s tackle first U, V, W and Z,
Leaving the last outliers later for me.
It’s United Kingdom, Venezuela, Wales, and Zimbabwe,
Sounds good to me — What do you say?

The United Kingdom (U.K.) Great Britain, you see
Is a place that has always held a fascination for me.
England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland — that’s four!
And I’ll take them as one, though each I adore.

Their National Animal is the pugnacious Bull Dog
Who looks like he could do well in a slog.
Perhaps short of stature but not lacking in grit,
Nothing deters him like any true Brit.
