Our Tempest Tossed Trash

Are we really such trashy people? Let’s not be. Christyl Rivers

Here in Hawaii, we stopped recycling plastic

People had no motive to make it clean

Asian countries were not enthusiastic,

When our waste and pollution junketed sight unseen

But now our sea life is at greater risk
Wave after wave delivers more litter

Scolds and wags just mutter tsk, tsk
And the tear flavored sea tastes much more bitter

They say paradise found, is paradise lost…
And 8 billion people will soon bang on your door

Some say launch to a pristine shore, our tempest tossed,
But paradise planets are hard to find anymore
