Sonnet to JD Vance
Circumstance does sometimes compel changed minds.
Second thoughts, further review have merit
because things don’t always go as designed
an honest conscience is forced to bear it.
In politics, though, flip-flopping earns scorn.
Candidates are measured by convictions —
except, perhaps, when ambitions adorn
empty principles with useful fiction.
What gives, JD, a blunt “Never Trumper,”
who once maligned him as “douchey,” “noxious,”
a “villainous” “a-hole” from the dumpster?
Your bearded, lickspittle rebirth shocks us.
Vance has called Trump “America’s Hitler,”
yet now would let him marry his sister.
