No Crime in Rhymin’

a sedimentary amalgamate —
material that flowed tectonically,
on cooling crystallized ionically,
then slowly layered to an aggregate —
erodes, producing a precipitate
stuck tightly to the roof (mnemonically,
that’s useful) and descending conically,
from which chiropterans echolocate.

its counterpart or geologic mirror
accumulates at comparable pace
and feeds on falling droplets every night;
from tiny mound or rounded hemisphere
it, eons later, dominates the space;
if you think you’ve the answer, well, you might.

i doubt this is a very difficult or satisfying riddle — i challenged myself to rhyme some ridiculously awkward scientific-sounding words, and the riddle appeared on its own while i grappled with the words.
