We don’t always have to rank and rate stuff

Have you ever had a one-way conversation with someone who was trying to convince you that their opinion of an album, film, TV show, art piece, or cultural movement was “the right” one? Had those same people tried to validate their opinion by saying that some reputable critic could back them up? “You don’t believe me? Well, this critic gave the thing a 3/10, so…” And most importantly, have you ever been annoyed that you, against your values, found yourself caring about that rating? I’ve had this happen to me too many times.

No Hierarchies

No Hierarchies is where music, films, TV, art, text, culture, entertainment, anything is discussed with zero hierarchies. This means no scoring, ranking, or rating. Instead, we want to start meaningful conversations and the ability to think and ask questions without judgment.

Segments

  • “Questions for Your Second Viewing/Listen/Read Of” (QF2): If you’ve ever engaged with something that left you with more questions than answers, this is the place to explore those thoughts. QF2 articles will always end with a question.
  • Hot Takes: Straightforward.
  • Reviews + Analysis: Good old-fashioned reviews, analyses, convo starters. These articles will fall under the following tabs: “Film + TV” or “Arts & Culture”
