10 Great Alternative Photo Backdrops
With every great photobooth, comes a great backdrop. No matter your event or your budget, there are a million great ideas for unique, eye catching backdrops. Here’s 10 of our absolute favorites!
1. Balloons
A wall of balloons is a great way to create a personalized, colorful, and easy backdrop. No matter the event, balloons have a way of transforming any photobooth into a colorful and exciting activation.
BONUS — You can also use excess balloons as props and let your guests play with them in their photos.
2. Paper Fans
For a fun DIY backdrop, consider making paper fans out of scrapbook paper and layering them on a wall or hanging them at varying lengths. These paper fans are super easy to make and will trick your guests into thinking you’re a total crafting guru.
Not enough time to make them yourself? Consider buying some online! There’s tons of options available on Etsy.
3. Leaves & Greenery
If you’re looking for something a bit more minimalistic and fresh, try putting together an organic backdrop of leaves. There are a million ways to configure different leaves, but you can try organizing them in a shape, hanging long branches, or using a cute line of clothes clips.
You can opt to use fake or fresh leaves, but just make sure to put it all together the day of if you use fresh leaves to avoid any wilting.
4. Wood Pallets
Particularly good for a rustic wedding, wood pallets make great backdrops! Not only are they extremely customizable, but they’re an easy thing to find and to repurpose. You can use flowers, ivy, burlap, or just about anything else you can think of to decorate them.
5. Streamers
Crepe streamers might be the ultimate backdrop hack. As they’re so cheap (think $0.99 a roll!) and so versatile, you really can’t go wrong with these. There’s a ton of different ways to combine colors and configurations so no matter how you put them together, you’re bound to come up with something awesome that will impress all of your guests.
6. Paper Circles
By using paper circles, you can unlock an infinite number of unique DIY designs. For example, by piling them on top of each other you get a cool scalloped mermaid effect. If you’re too pressed for time to cut them out yourself, you can even opt to use colored paper plates for a quick polka dot background!
7. Tissue Paper
Similar to the crepe streamers, tissue paper can be used to make any number of backdrops! Since tissue paper is also relatively affordable and comes in so many varieties, it’s truly a fan favorite. You can make fringe, flowers, tassells, or just about anything else you can think of. On top of that, because tissue paper is so diverse it is impossible not to find some to fit your party’s theme.
8. Bales of Hay
Bales of hay are another example of a super easy rustic backdrop. These could be ideal for a country wedding or Western themed company get together. Bales of hay also make for a good backdrop because depending on how you decorate them, you can achieve a ton of different looks!
9. Marquee Letters
In lieu of a traditional backdrop, you can cleverly place giant light up letters to really impress guests! These are great as they double as a decoration and as a great photo op. On top of that they are truly unique and with any combination of colored lights, sizes, and characters, they are truly customizable.
10. Custom Mural
