The World’s Weirdest Treasures
FYI : It is Not Gold
I used to think that treasure meant chests of gold, sparkling jewels or ancient artifacts.
It was only until I came across these surreal stories, that they made me question everything.
These were not just odd collection, let me tell you- they were things people actually fought for, hid and even died protecting.
Trust me, none of them were what you are expecting.
Firstly, think of a 2,000 year old Roman dildo stash. Yep!! Archaeologists dug up a wooden box in Germany and inside it was a set of well preserved, "ahem"!
Let's call them- personal pleasure devices.
The Romans clearly valued discretion— they even disguised some as religious objects.
My Goodness! Just imagine guarding that secret with your life!
Then there is the French Poste Secret. It is a vault crammed with 200,000 unsent love letters from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Sailors, soldiers and heartbroken lovers poured their souls onto paper, but the letters never reached their lovers.
They were instead , confiscated and locked away.
Well...centuries later, we get to peek into their raw, unfiltered emotions.
While some were steamy, some tragic, but most importantly all of them are achingly human.
This brings us to this conclusion, treasure is not always about wealth.
Sometimes, it is about desire, love or sheer desperation.
These weird things prove one thing for sure- what we value most is not always shiny and the value of everything cannot be measured with money.
So, what is the strangest thing that you would protect with your life?
