In this post, I note my opinion about Apple by reading this article.
When Will Apple Wow Us Again?

This article says Apple is losing innovative mind after losing Steve Jobs. 10 years ago, Apple announced iPhone and wowed many people. But, recently, they haven’t announced new innovative products and they don’t take take risks like Nintendo. In addition, they focus on software services such as Apple Music and Apple Pay than hardware As a result, the author isn’t surprised by Apple.

However, I agree with Apple’s strategy. They built an ecosystem and a platform on iPhone. They sold a lot of iPhones and they built many services on it. After building a ecosystem, it’s better to gain revenue from the ecosystem.

For products and services, there is the Product Life Cycle which is consisted of 4 phases: introduction, growth, maturity and decline.

Now, iPhone is in the maturity phase and in this phase, collecting money is correct strategy. In fact, iPhone 7 is selling well and Apple’s revenue is increasing. They’ll release new model of iPhone this autumn and I believe it will be sold more than iPhone 7.

In the future, smartphones will also go into decline phase and of course they understand this change. That’s reason why they’re spending a lot of money for developing next products such as watch, car and home devices which are based on voice recognition and AI. I think they’re just acting according to business strategy and they’ll wow us again in the near future with innovative products.
