Ah, the aughties (2000–09). It seems like those years were just yesterday and yet it was over a decade ago. Like any decade of music, there were highs and lows. This list focuses on some of the highs. With SO MANY great albums to come out in those 10 years, admittedly, there are a bunch of terrific albums still missing from this list. Rather than taking that as a slight against those albums, think of this list as a solid collection of 100 albums that you can pick and choose from what you like.

While punk in the 90s focused a lot on faster skatepunk with a generally fun attitude, the 2000s found the genre turning much more melodic and introspective and newer bands were finding ways to incorporate other genres into punk while older bands found themselves experimenting with their sound — adding layers, working with different producers, and building on their skill set. The result is possibly my favorite decade of punk music.

If you’re unfamiliar with the decade, hopefully you’ll find some new gems here. If you’re already quite experienced, you’ll maybe find a bunch of albums you already love within this list.

NOTE: Only one album per artist was included in the list.
