Hailing from New Jersey is the man, myth, and legend known as Jason Shevchuk. A singer with one of the most recognizable voices, who is able to manage everything from folk to hardcore punk and everything in between. While his vocals were what helped define the bands he was in, his ability to incorporate insanely catchy hooks and, later, extremely unique guitar melodies into his songs is what has made his songwriting iconic and timeless.

Shevchuk’s gravelly vocal delivery is able to convey such an incredible amount of emotion whether he’s screaming at the top of his lungs or crooning to a softer melody. He’s the only singer I know of where no matter the song if he’s providing vocals, I know I’ll enjoy it.

The first band (that I’m aware of) that Jason was involved with was the short-lived hardcore screamo band Bound which also consisted of Dana Berkowitz, Dave Underwood, and Nick Remondelli. During their time together, the band released the full-length Fire’s Dying and a self-titled 7", both in 1996.

After Bound, Jason auditioned for a new band called Kid Dynamite that was being put together by ex-Lifetime members Dan Yemin and Dave Wagenshutz. As a band, they released two albums, the first one Kid Dynamite (1998) featured Steve Farrell on…
