In the midst of the early 90s punk popularity that had a huge impact in Berkeley, California, we’ve got Samiam. A band that didn’t receive the same level of appreciation that came to other bands in the area like Green Day or Operation Ivy, but still created a respectably large following of fans.

Formed out of the Gilman mainstay Isocracy, the band has gone through several lineup changes throughout the years, but vocalist
Jason Beebout and guitarist Sergie Loobkoff are the two main members with guitarist James Brogan appearing on their first six albums, and bassist-turned-guitarist Sean Kennerly playing on their last four records. Chad Darby currently plays bass for the band with Colin Brooks on drums.

The band’s style has evolved and changed significantly over the years with their early material reminiscent of heavy emo-punk and then changing to a more mid-tempo melodic style of punk with each album.
