We haven’t gotten a chance to post here for a while, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t do much. We launched a ton of new features including a video mode built specifically for low-light photography:

The difference is night and day! To make this happen, we built an algorithm that processes almost a gigabyte of data every second in real-time on the GPU. We then spent months testing and optimising for different scenes and on different iPhones to give you the absolute best quality possible.

In addition to video, we built a timelapse mode, again optimised for low-light photography:

You can see the trees swaying in the wind, the clouds rushing across the sky, and the deep blue sky before dawn. To make this timelapse happen, our algorithm processed more than a terabyte of data, in Ultra HD (4K) resolution, and saved it with the new HEVC codec, with minimal compression, for the absolute best quality.

On clear nights, you see the moon rise and set, and the stars moving in circles. You can notice the movement of the cosmos without even leaving your balcony!

Dusk is a particularly good time for a timelapse. As the sun sets, the sky turns deep blue and then darkens, and the city lights turn on. The city feels like it has come to life:

Timelapses show you the world through new eyes.

NoctaCam also has support for the dual camera, automatically deciding when to use the telephoto camera depending on various factors like light levels, how far the subject is, and which model of iPhone you’re using. As always, we do as much hard work for you as we can.

We also built manual focus for scenes autofocus is unable to handle, especially astrophotography. And manual white balance when you want colors like those of streetlights to be accurate.

NoctaCam also observes how you’re using the app and keeps giving you suggestions on how to improve your photography. Think of it as a tutor standing by your side all the time! This is a unique feature no other camera app I’ve come across has — they all expect you to know everything there is to know, and if you don’t, tough luck. Not so with NoctaCam. If you don’t know much, but are passionate and willing to spend the time and effort it takes, NoctaCam will help you, so that you’ll be able to enjoy the wonders of night photography and share them with your family and friends.

Last but not least, NoctaCam has a new, much-improved UX and UI.

All in all, there are tons of new features to try out.
