The Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) is a competitive programming contest for delegations within the Asian and Western Pacific regions. Having been inaugurated in 2007, APIO 2021 was hosted by Indonesia and organized by IA TOKI, an association of former medalists of the Indonesian National Olympiad in Informatics. The contest was held from 22nd to 23rd of May 2021.

The Sri Lankan delegation consisted of 13 students who were selected based on the marks they scored at the 5th Monthly Contest of NOI 2021 and their preference to participate in the APIO. As in previous years, this year too the contestants took part in the competition online.

Although the Sri Lankan team was unable to secure any medals this year, we wish them all the very best in the years to come.

Some certificates of APIO 2020 were also distributed at the IOI Remote Contest Site after a long holdup due to the Covid19 breakout in the country and the remaining will be mailed accordingly to the contestants.

Sri Lanka is also now a part of the APIO technical committee bearing the responsibility of maintaining the APIO web services according to international standards. A group of undergraduates of the ACM Student Chapter of UCSC will be appointed to carry out the responsibilities entailed.
