Sri Lankan Delegation at the International School of Informatics “Junior”
The International School of Informatics “Junior” (ISIJ or School) is a training program organized to prepare the national teams of junior students to participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and to exchange methodological experience between the countries participating in it. It was initiated by the scientists of the National Olympiad in Informatics in Russia, together with the organizers of IOI 2016 (Kazan Federal University, Russia), organizers of IOI 1989 and EJOI 2017 (Bulgaria), organizers of EJOI 2018 (Innopolis University, Russia) and the organizers of IOI 2000 (China) and IOI 1995 (Netherlands).
The mission of the ISIJ is to create an international community of Olympiads in Informatics for students under the age of 16 or Juniors, bring together school teachers, coaches and create a collection of materials for the development of Informatics for Juniors.
The Online ISIJ takes place every year and it consists of 2 phases, namely Summer Online ISIJ & Cup (June 1 — July 11) and Winter Online ISIJ (September-April). Online Summer ISIJ consists of three training rounds, an individual math contest, Estafette Cup, and Marathon Cup. These contests are held under two categories, namely basic and advanced.
For the first time in history, this year (2021), a team representing Sri Lanka participated in the Online ISIJ program. The 6 top scorers of the National Olympiad of Informatics 2021, under the age of 16 were selected to participate in it. The team consisted of 8 participants including a team leader and a coach.
