Our brilliant designers Angie and Mon are from Argentina, but currently both living in Spain. We took the opportunity to send them to OFFF Barcelona this year. Read more to find out the big trends for 2023, people and agencies that are making waves in our industry, and the time they met Noise hero, David Carson.

GW: Hey Mon and Angie! So.. you went to OFFF last month in Barcelona. How was it!? What was the atmosphere like?

ML: The atmosphere was EPIC. It had the best vibes. It was very international; no one spoke in Spanish… and we were in Spain! It was super energetic and inspiring. Everyone was chatting, the design of the interiors was amazing, and the beer and wine was flowing — come on, we’re in Spain!

AR: Yes! And the people who were speaking put in tonnes of effort to make it fun for everyone. It was awesome.

GW: What was the main topic of conversation across the weekend?

AR: AI was 100% the main topic. For good or for bad, like it or love it, it was the thing that everyone was talking about.

ML: For sure. Also the different agencies that were speaking emphasised how important it is to be different nowadays - the importance of thinking differently than other creatives. There was a message that there are a lot of people offering the same service, but you can differentiate yourself by offering a new way of thinking, seeing the world, and creating designs that stand out by being unique.

GW: Any trends in design we should be aware of?

ML: Motion is key for all projects. You could see even in their presentation design that motion really brings projects to life and gives design another layer of personality and dimension.

AR: It’s Nice That said mentioned these specific trends for 2023; Make it move (motion) — motion captures every second of attention. AI & machine learning — you’ve got to embrace it and be optimistic about it if you want to stay relevant. And finally 3D modeling in design.

GW: Absolutely, I totally agree. It’s amazing how motion brings to life our digital projects, and adds character to our branding projects in a whole new way. Did any of the speakers really stand out to you? Individuals or agencies?

ML: Snask Studio was without a doubt a total highlight. They were super funny, really unique, and obviously insane at what they do.

AR: For sure. Also David Carson was obviously amazing. He is so random, so chilled - you didn’t need to focus or anything, we just sat back and enjoyed ourselves. One quote from David really stood out; “If money wasn’t an issue, would you still do your job? If yes, that’s the best job”.

ML: Another speaker who we loved was James Victore. He was so inspiring and really focused on the creative process rather than showing designs. That was an epic talk on creativity, frustrations. Some of my favorite quotes from him were; “There ain’t no rules”, “There is no comfort in adventure”, “The things that made you weird as a kid make you great today”.

If you are a brand or business experiencing change or growth (or if you’re just doing something pretty awesome), we would love to hear from you. We are not for everyone. And that’s a good thing.
