First thing’s first, what’s your name and how old are you?

Brooke Hurford, 29 years old.

And what do you do, workwise?

Front end developer and product designer :)

What was it that attracted you to Nomad House (or coliving in general)?

I wanted to work remotely but was afraid of staying accountable. Coliving made me feel like I’d be able to learn from others that were living the lifestyle I wanted to live.

Where were you before joining?

Home in Portland, Oregon USA.

What advice have you found most helpful, since beginning to travel and work remotely?

Try to create a routine for yourself.

Which lessons will you be taking from Nomad House?

1. How important it is to surround yourself with people who have similar motivations, dreams, inspirations, sense of humor, etc.
2. Traveling with Nomad House showed me that this is a sustainable lifestyle. Before I even left the retreat I knew I’d continue to travel with Becca and Arthur, well, forever. These two as Nomad House showed me I can have a kick ass time traveling while still moving my career forward and being a dependable coworker to my remote teams.

How do you feel about this lifestyle now — how do you think it will grow, and will you be trying more coliving programs in the future?

It gave me the confidence that I can do this. That I can make this lifestyle work and not feel bad or guilty, or that I’m just off galavanting without being productive. I loved being in a group that kept me inspired to continue working everyday. On top of all that I made some amazing friends that I value more than anything.

And a quickfire round…

Describe your gear setup [what do you take with you, your essential ‘in kit’ items]

Nothing fancy for me! The necessities — laptop, laptop sleeve, all the chargers, cell phone and hammock.

Describe your essential apps.

Workfrom ;) whatsapp, google everything — maps, translate, hangouts, music, flights, calendar. XE Currency.

Describe your travel stack [your preferred websites for booking travel].

Skyscanner, Momondo, Google Flights.

Where can people get in touch with you?
