A daring shot of the wild outside business school

They told you the GSB would be everything you’ve ever wanted, but now as the quarter goes by, you realize that you’ve been confined to the ghost walls of GSB life while so much is happening around in the Farm. Fear not, there is hope and you can find options for every occasion in this guide.

For the intellectuals

  1. Conferences conferences conferences! They are everywhere and about everything — find them here
  2. There are Nobel Prizes around teaching classes and you can join! See the list here. Fill those 2 credits you have left with an impossible PhD-Nobel-Prize class that will make you wonder if your brain ever worked in the first place

For the thriller fans

  1. Take a class in the basement of the Stanford Prison Experiment
  2. Learn about the Murder in the Memorial Church
  3. Find the ghost in Tresidder Memorial Union (here)
  4. For the lovers of beauty and all things art
  5. Subscribe to Cantor Arts museum, Stanford Live and Stanford Arts. There are events happening almost every day, for all tastes all over campus
  6. Study in the beautiful Cecil Green Library and do your assignments with a view to the Rodin Garden, at the Bowes Art and Architecture library
  7. Stay attentive to what is happening at the Bowes Art building — often you can see art displays and screenings from the works of the grad students

For the penny-less

  1. Find the cheapest coffee @Bookstore (50 cents refill, take your own mug)
  2. Make money by volunteering to be experimented on at the Behavioral lab, Med school and Psychology school

For the after-hours

  1. The Arriallaga dinning hall is open late hours (until 2:30am) selling all-things-munchies and more often than not there is some piano virtuoso showing off their skills. Priceless enjoyment
  2. Tree House has great options, not too expensive and a melting pot of undergrads and grad students

For the party-people

  1. d.school parties are great, go.
  2. Check out Tresiddder during the summer! There is beer bar outside that also bring DJs sometimes during the spring quarter — last year they were great!
  3. Highly recommend going around campus on Halloween crashing every party you see — a great way to make friends and access free drinks
