Publishing an article in English when English isn’t your first language can feel uncomfortable.

You’re afraid of making mistakes, sounding unnatural, or looking stupid. You think your grammar is not good enough to inspire others, your vocabulary is too basic to tell a motivational story, and your sentences are so ugly that people would be scared to see them.

You also think you’re ugly, too.

I disagree with all that so I opened Non-native English Voices to show you how wrong (and beautiful) you are.

No Great Writer Became a Great Writer by Hiding Their Writing

Beyoncé didn’t wait to have perfect singing skills before performing on a stage. Nor did Lionel Messi become the best soccer player in the world by waiting to be the best before playing in a stadium.

Follow their example.

Don’t wait to have “perfect” English before publishing your writing. Use whatever English you have available now and start making art today. Don’t spend another minute overthinking whether you’re good enough.

You are — end of story.
