Azerbaijan & Turkey Will Continue Ethnic Cleansing Against Armenians

During the break up of the Soviet Union in the late 1980s early 1990s, ethnic Azeris around their capital city of Baku in the east of the country massacred ethnic Armenian residents who had moved there for work during the Soviet Union.

Notice the black circle on the right denoting Azerbaijan’s capital where they massacred ethnic Armenians migrants 1988–1990, and the red dot in the center denoting the 4th century Armenian monastery of Amaras which is now situated in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh, land that the the international community refused to recognize as an independent country after a referendum for that in 1989 because of Azerbaijan’s oil wealth and Turkey’s threats.

If you knew that 30 years ago your relatives were massacred, would you remain in your home if the same people who massacred your relatives came to power in your land for which you voted for independence in 1989 (but the “international community” did not recognize it), or would you flee to somewhere safe?

You would flee to somewhere safe. Because of Azerbaijan’s oil wealth, your vote for independence in 1989 was not recognized, despite the international community recognizing the right of Bangladesh, Kosovo, East Timor & South Sudan to vote for independence.

Sure, you put up a good fight for democracy, self-determination and freedom for thirty years. But the massacring conquerors bought new foreign technology (drones), and luckily earned billions of dollars from oil on their land, so you are now out of luck. They massacred your relatives 30 years ago, and now they are coming to control the land your family has lived on for thousands of years.

Too many supposed peacemakers hide their reliance on the violence of police enforcement even from themselves. Violence is physical, not verbal. Humanity has a duty to envision new ways to prevent violence (government or not) & solve other problems voluntarily without coercion.
