The Lawfare Institute claims to be defending democracy when they interview authors who write books entitled “The Highest Law in the Land: How the Unchecked Power of Sheriffs Threatens Democracy.” If you actually listen to the interview with the author of this book on the Lawfare Institute’s podcast, though, it is crystal clear that sheriffs are elected democratically!
How can thousands of democratically-elected officials across America threaten democracy? It makes no sense!
The author admits that the most prominent area of the United States where the sheriff is not democratically elected, but rather appointed, is King County in Washington State. That is where Seattle is: a Democratic Party stronghold in the same political camp as the Lawfare Institute and its sponsor the Brookings Institution!
