We Should Ban All Apps From Authoritarian, Polluting Regimes Like the Chinese Communist Party

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has banned TikTok in China, and has banned most major apps from the free world such as Facebook, X-Twitter, and AI-apps such as ChatGPT.

So, why is the free world continuing to let the Chinese Communist Party distribute their apps in free lands? Why is the free world continuing to allow the Chinese Communist Party to data harvest the personal information of free citizens through apps such as TikTok, Zoom, and now DeepSeek AI?

We in the free world have to stop this overly-vulnerable, principled stance whereby we think we are encouraging an autocracy to open up by being more generous to them than they are to us.

We need to stop allowing autocracies to harvest our data.

Sure, DeepSeek AI is far cheaper and yet sometimes better-performing than free-world equivalents like OpenAI, despite the fact that DeepSeek admittedly and proudly uses older, less-efficient chips!

How is this result possible?

First, because DeepSeek might be price-dumping, a dirty practice that businesses under the Chinese Communist Party’s jurisdiction have traditionally engaged in. The free world has known for decades that the Chinese Communist Party encourages price-dumping, and yet we continue basically to ignore it and let our own industries die as a result because over our overly-generous principled “free trade” stance.
