I’m going to do a really short review of each book that I read this year. I hope it’s useful in even the smallest way.
Dan Pink wrote one of my favourite books which i reference often, it’s called Drive and it’s an enlightening look into what actually motivates us. ‘Drive’ is very far from a book on sales which is why I was very interested to see what Pink had to say about selling.
At it’s core, this book for me held the message that we all sell, all the time, whether we acknowledge it or not. Whether you are an actual sales person or whether you just trying to get your 3 year old to get dressed in the morning, you are selling, and Pink proposes that to sell is human….and I agree.
True to form Pink gives great insight into understanding humans more deeply and accurately in service of having better relationships, success and experiences.
As always, I am drawn to books that present well-researched positions with practical applications, and Pink does not disappoint in this regard.
While the book is about selling, for me, I took away knowledge on empathy, listening more and being more aware of others in any situation, not just selling.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I do recommend it for anyone that wants to improve relationships and awareness.
Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon for my next review.
