Nonprofit Builder: prototype ready for testing

The prototype is available at https://demo.nonprofitbuilder.org/

We were able to build a fully functional marketplace:

  • A directory for consultants and nonprofits, with a registration system, and a basic review system (set up so that nonprofits can review consultants interventions).
  • A very flexible system to process subsidy applications. For example, approval requests can be sent to a foundation’s grant-maker by email so the person does not even have to have an account.

Technology-wise: we used Wordpress hosted on WP Engine, with two very cool plugins: Ultimate Member for the directories, and Gravity Flow for the subsidy system workflows. Vladimir Lepusina made the graphic design, and Kailan Wyatt from Codeable developed a practical faceted search system for the directories.

Features that would be relatively easy to add in the future:

  • A resource library, which consultants could contribute to.
  • Organisational self-assessment tests and quizzes.
  • Community features, such as a Quora-style Q&A service, a guest blog, forums, etc.
  • A newsletter
  • A webinar or group discussion system
