Well the suns out but it’s hard to say the releases in the bin this month go along with that. Plenty of punishing industrial numbers in there from the likes of Autumns, Air LQD, Barking, TML, Raul E & Meshes, some spoken word from Bristol’s industrial show pony Max Kelan, post-rock-esque galore from NPLGNN, oh and much more of course. Get in there and listen to all the music for god’s sake.

V/A — A Call Too Close

Resident: Barking
Label: Brokntoys

Weirdo-wacked-out contribution to this Brokntoys comp from Berlin’s Barking.

Pitch delayed and droned out ambience with whispers batting around your head, definitely one to unsettle the comfortable. Killer production from a killer producer what else is there to say?

Rest of the comp is also great, strange electronics left right and rhubarb.

Autumns & Air LQD Split— A Call Too Close

Resident: Dyslexia Sound System w/ DJ Autumns
Label: Deviant Pleasures

Well where to start with this one I mean it sings to all my sensibilities at once. Smashed out synth noodlings, spoken word shoutings, crushed down drummings — this one has it all.

Both sides great, both with their own unique twist on guttural industrial electronics. One for fans of the newer flavours of industrial from the last 10 years or so. Unfortunately record is sold out but there’s always digi…..

Diessa — Between Rooms

Resident: Edited Arts
Label: Edited Art

Following a killer V/A (see Feb Resi Bin), Edited Arts return with a four track from Diessa, exploring the sound of room one and two of the clubs we miss so much.

Wide range of BPMs in this one but each track features a signature style punishing drum production with a tasty bit of flare and pristine sound design.

Lot’s of groove and lots of noise, need I go on?

Raul E — Live 2021

Resident: O to O
Label: Self Released

Finland’s Raul E here with a live recording out on cassette and with a lovely cardboard sleeve cover.

Man wack this one on your boom box and annoy your neighbours or something because there’s so much slam in this. Laced with acid and heavy kick drums — it’ll make you want to party I’m sure. We all love to party eh, why not get this on and have a covid safe party from you sofa?

Roy Mills — Hydrotech

Resident: Room II Records
Label: Room II Records

Out with London’s own Room II Records we have a naughty UK inspired number here from Roy Mills.

Touches of UK techno, breaks and all that stuff however with a heavy emphasis on weirdo sound design, but done tastefully. Exemplar production style that maintains functionality while exploring a slightly untapped sound palette. Dive in.

Max Kelan— Collected Writing and Poetry

Resident: Ceramics & Slack Alice
Label: Ceramics

I once heard him described as Bristol’s answer to Genesis P-Orridge… I guess let that be the entry point for this one…

You may know him from Bad Tracking, you may know him from Salac or for his numerous video work for musicians far and wide. He’s a staple in the scene we hold dear, Ceramics also, this is not one to pass up.

Max bares his soul on this cassette with a selection of candid spoken word straight from his poetry book, and if that wasn’t enough it’s complemented with a 20 page journal made up of photography and drawings from the man himself.

TML — VOIP 02

Resident: TML
Label: TML

Another TML treat for all of our ears, how wonderful! This time in the form of severe and rigorous techno(ish) drum tracks dipped in a touch of acid and vocal chops.

The soundstyle we’ve all grown to love doused in a heavy serving of noise and distortion with persistent rhythms to complement. Not one to pass up.

Meshes — Euphoria EP

Resident: Tutamen
Label: Tutamen

The ever great Tutamen back with another delight of a release courtesy of Meshes.

Walking the line between straight pounding techno and faithful EBM it’s fair to say this one is rife with heaters — and I’m looking forward to hearing it on the dance floor at some point.

One for fans of Mannequin and the like, out on cassette and vinyl so we’re all catered for. Go support someone holding up the fort.

Big Hands — Lakamha

Resident: Oscilla Sound
Label: Oscilla Sound

Hard one to place, sort of somewhere between freaked out dub and the sound palette of someone like Lee Gamble or Shamos. Either way it’s a refreshing bit of kit and it certainly does what it does well.

Interesting sound design, nice samples, lots of delays and a heavy dose of low end. Out on vinyl for your listening pleasure.

NPLGNN — Forever Till No More

Resident: NPLGNN
Label: Forever Now

Chopped and screwed take on a Naples cult prog-rock track Milano Calibro 9 by Osanna.

I know sound mental, and it is, but in an amazing way. NPLGNN has out done himself here with 11 minutes of pure noise, glistening ambience, far away kick drums indefinitely marching and all else in between. A sort of post-rock type number really, what a treat! You should buy it.
