Back to the bin for another month and no changes here, amazing stuff from some of our residents as always. Goliath V/A from Slack Alice celebrating their 5th birthday in true industrial fashion, slugged out beat driven lushness from Nicky Soft Touch, a sound design tour-de-force out on OOH-sounds from yab; yvanko, an insane bin this month — get in there and spend some money, it’s the first Bandcamp Friday in a while after all.

Gabriel Gifford (Feat. Maya Law & Freya Roy)— Cold Too

Resident: Charlatan Jazz
Label: S/R

Following on from a slew of acclaimed singles over the last year, Gabriel continues his own blend of soul infused jazz with this single ‘Cold Too’

Beautiful pristine production across the whole thing laced with sultry vocals and addictive chord progressions. Can’t speak highly enough of this guy, a real talent.

V/A — 5th Birthday Compilation

Resident: Slack Alice
Label: Slack Alice

Well what do we have here, a celebration of one of Bristol’s most important mutant freak party outfits Slack Alice. Don’t mind if I didgeridoo actually.

What a treat, 16 tracks from all the lads and lasses we cherish here in Bristol’s scene. Oh and there’s a track from Cabaret Voltaire’s Stephen Mallinder and Napalm Death’s Mick Harris (Scorn). Couldn’t ask for more could you really, hard hitting madness and weirdo sextronics across the whole thing.

On limited cassette, go celebrate Slack Alice’s 5th birthday and get the damn thing.

Jeremiah Carter & Kelby Clark — Country Music

Resident: Vacast
Label: Vaagner

Yet another treat from the Vaagner bunch, this time coming out of Townsend Tennessee.

Wholesome organic sound palettes performed by some seriously talented musicians. Aching with country inflection and ambient wistfulness, the pieces in this are sombre, thoughtful and all round heart warming. You know what to do.

Nicky Soft Touch — REAL SHIT II

Resident: Milk, No Sugar w/ Nicky Soft Touch
Label: Ghost Notes Worldwide

Our man back at it again, thanks Nicky! Second instalment of some REAL SHIT. If you caught the first one (which you definitely should have) you know what to expect.

Delightful crunch we’re all striving for, expertly chosen samples interlocked by a serious beatmaker. Great stuff all over this limited 7", get it — it’s hot.

Hector Plimmer— Next To Nothing Remixed

Resident: City Of Sound w/ Alis
Label: Hector Plimmer

Remix here from Alis giving her own flavour on this Hector Plimmer track.

Deep and glossy ambient techno fit to push you through your mid-week trance. Tastefully done and persistent throughout — highly recommend for a little pick-me-up.

Go check the rest of the thing out too, many great cuts.

yab; yvanko — Biome

Resident: OOH-sounds
Label: OOH-sounds

Florence based OOH-Sounds back at it with another sterling release in a similar vein to what they’ve been putting out lately. Glassy technological sound design fit for Discovery One — the kind of sounds I can imagine Hal making if Hal met other Hals.

But seriously, these tracks are incredible, interesting the whole way through, rhythm when there should be and space when you want it. The sounds of a very talented producer.

Radiation 30376 — Arka

Resident: Olivia
Label: Pinkman

The Krakow based duo made up of Olivia and Chino join Pinkman for five live cuts delving into the sound of 90’s electro and techno stompers.

Recorded with industrial inflection and clear intention these tracks all make me want to move to no end. I long to be in a misty basement somewhere moving furiously with this as my soundtrack.

If you like acid, cutting electro, 90’s techno or just like to dance, go listen. Pinkman have been consistently great since their start, so take their word for it.

Fantasna — Alien’s Discotheque EP

Resident: Basic Needs w/ Valesuchi
Label: Fantasna

Valesuchi’s remix on this one of Fantasna’s ‘Alien Discotheque’ track.

Starting with blissed out piano moving closer and further away, undulating in euphoric ebbs, before being quickly interspersed with persistent drum parts to get you moving.

A very well executed remix here, effective in all the right ways.

Remotif — The Sound Of Hope Played Backwards

Resident: Super Eccentric Theatre
Label: Pleasant Life

Remotif on this thing out with London’s Pleasant Life. From elated downtempo bits to more uptempo feel-gooders, the tracks across this will pick you up ready for a party this weekend.

The second release on this new London label, definitely one to watch out for for softer techno and uplifting dance cuts.
